and it asked if your state test has a cute name like mine...
My state test is the STAAR...
I love stars...
so sparkly and shiny and
super cute... BUT I do not feel the same way
about the STAAR!!!
it is STERILE, secretive, and SCARY
the cute name is so misleading....
The winning name goes to Virginia...
Chrissie told me their name was
are you ready for this...
SOLs...
I laughed out loud....
and hubs asked
what I was laughing at
he thought it was pretty funny too
so IT HAS TO BE FUNNY!!!
SOLs
what were they thinking
there are 2 choices here...
1- the peeps in charge of naming the test have a great sense of humor
OR
2- the peeps in charge of naming the test are CLUELESS...
I am thinking
well I hope it is number 1
but am afraid it might be 2
thanks to the more than 40 of you guys that wrote in... it was fun to see all of the names!!!
SOL... still laughing about that one

I loooove the fights in hockey. I used to stand on the seat as a little girl and yell fight fight fight. I would cry if I was in the bathroom during a fight. Hehe

ReplyDeleteMy kiddos and I looked at the 10 cities for Allergies and we are SURROUNDED by them (Central KY) here...I am dying!

I have several connections.
ReplyDelete1. STAAR stinks. I'm in Texas, too. I live in El Paso, and I hate STAAR. I hated TAKS but I hate STAAR more, and we haven't even taken it yet.
2. This makes me hate Texas, actually, which is sad cause I've lived somewhere in Texas my whole life.
3. We've had several dust storms this week (very desert-y here). Gross.
Sorry about STAAR Writing next week. Good luck for you and your kiddos! Maybe they'll shine! :)

It's funny you mentioned your OLW, because I definitely need to revisit mine -- goals. I have several goals I haven't been working on. Thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteMy most recent post on my blog must help you find your shine. I wrote about teacher burn out and ways we can de-stress. Hope you come by to check it out. I even used a Farley-ism! :)
Have a great night!
Josh
Yea...the STAAR is totally going around my school too and making everyone sick too. :(
ReplyDeleteSOLs...that's kind of ridiculous!
Happy alone time night!!!
Iowa's test is: I ASS
ReplyDeleteNow really, who missed that? It is a new name this year so we all use the old ITBS so we don't laugh.
FCAT AND FAIR are the state test in Florida. I thought those were pretty funny until I just read Iowa's seriously what were they thinking?! LOL! Hang in there Farley! Have a super night!

I know what you mean about STAAR dust! My kids do not take a state mandated test in second grade but the dust always seems to trickle down the stairs!

SOL? What WERE they thinking? too funny
ReplyDeleteMy hubby and I are huge hockey fans, too. Watching hockey right now as a matter of fact. Actually it feels like hockey is ALWAYS on our TV or we are sitting at a game.
Thanks for the reminder. I need to revisit my OWL as well.
Good luck on your STAARS.
